Design, Construction and Removal of Existing Pedestrian Bridge (No.6) Lake Pertobe

⁠⁠⁠Warrnambool City Council invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced companies to carry out the detailed design and construction of a replacement pedestrian bridge (Bridge No 6) at Lake Pertobe in Warrnambool Victoria. The WUC also includes demolition and disposal of existing bridge construction.

The overall projects aim is to:
* Remove and replace the poor condition, inaccessible pedestrian bridge with new gateway entrance bridge which will feature full DDA compliant accessibility
* Replacement structure to be long lasting structure with minimum 50 year asset life
* Provide a replacement structure with increased width between kerbs/handrails of 2.5m to allow for travel of mowing plant
* Retain similar span with deck level reduced by 300mm height so that the new bridge approaches can be constructed as DDA compliant
* Ensure a simple, aesthetically pleasing structure and elegant design consistent with beauty and nature based experience of Lake Pertobe
* Minimise requirement for removal of existing vegetation during construction process
* Satisfactorily complete the WUC in a timely manner, avoiding construction works during peak visitor periods

The project includes:
* Design of a suitable replacement structure
* Removal of existing structure
* Construction of new pedestrian bridge
* Site management including quality, OHS, and environmental control
* Defects period maintenance

The design shall consider options for environmental sustainability design, including but not limited to:
* Innovation and pre-fabrication off-site to reduce construction time and impacts on site
* Life of structure and material components
* Protection from corrosion

The design shall achieve good structural effectiveness, and be cost effective as limited funding is available.

The Contractor’s required skills and experience should include:
* Demonstrated experience in projects relating to structural and/or building design, risk assessment and analysis
* Experience in designing high visitation infrastructure
* Structural design and commercial construction competency
