Tender Description
Warrnambool City Council is seeking tender submissions from suitably qualified & experienced contractors to carry out works to rehabilitate the stairs, ramp and retaining wall at Proudfoots in Warrnambool. Works shall include the supply of all labour, plant, equipment & materials to complete the works in accordance with the drawings and the specification.
The Proudfoots external stairs, ramp and retaining wall consists of a number of different materials built at different stages. The stairs and retaining wall consist of:
- Rendered Mount Gambier Limestone;
- Timber balustrade and retainer;
- Timber and concrete stairs;
- Concrete ramp and landing;

Council has recently undertaken an assessment of the condition of the external stairs and retainer wall at the rear access to the Proudfoots building.
The assessment revealed that the main issue affecting the remaining serviceable life of the structure was the poor condition of the timber balustrade and not being structurally adequate for the retained load and the Mount Gambier limestone section of wall is failing due to the excessive retaining height for the structure.
