Dental Health Services Victoria

Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) is the lead public oral health agency for Victoria. Our service is strongly committed to providing high quality, safe and accessible oral health care to all eligible Victorians. DHSV provides this care through the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne (RDHM) and by purchasing dental services from more than 50 community dental agencies throughout Victoria.

 Smile Squad

The School Dental Program (Smile Squad) is a four-year Victorian Government election commitment. It will provide free annual oral health check-ups and follow-up treatment for all children (approximately 620,000) attending government primary and secondary schools.

The school dental program utilises mobile dental units (examination and treatment vans) and teams to provide free annual oral health check and treatment to children attending Victorian government primary and secondary schools.

The school dental program mobile fleet includes examination vans stocked with portable dental equipment that is set up within a room in a school. The single dental chair ‘treatment’ vans are self-contained mobile dental clinics – treatment is provided to students in the van on school grounds.

Smile Squad services are currently provided by community dental agencies who use Smile Squad vehicles and equipment. Equipment utilised within Smile Squad vehicles is purchased directly by DHSV.

The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne

The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne (RDHM) provides general dental, specialist dental care and emergency dental care. RDHM also provides dental services for home bound people and people with special needs and works in partnership with the University of Melbourne and RMIT University to educate and train future dental professionals.

​​​​​​​Community Dental Agencies

Public dental services are provided across Victoria through more than 50 community health agencies in fixed dental clinics and outreach programs. Agencies can purchase dental equipment, for use in their clinic(s) and outreach programs (excluding school dental program) through DHSV or other dental equipment suppliers. This tender is applicable to equipment available for purchase through DHSV, not purchases made directly by community dental agencies.

Dental Health Services Victoria seeks a supplier(s) (tenderer) to supply goods to the school dental program (Smile Squad), Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne (RDHM) and community dental agencies (CDA). The requirement from market is to provide the following equipment to be utilised for general dentistry service provision:

•  Dental handpieces (high speed, low speed contra angle and low speed straight) including couplings and motors
• Ultrasonic scalers and universal tips
• Portable curing lights

All equipment, where applicable, is to integrate with the A-dec delivery system. All responders are to provide details of minimum requirements for system to be functional e.g., integrated ultrasonic scaler components and attachments (including price) in the Accessories and Consumables section of their submission.

Tenderers are invited to respond to one or more categories of the items listed above. Submissions will be assessed by category.

The tenderer(s) will work closely with Dental Health Services Victoria to ensure they are able to supply equipment in accordance with specifications provided, in the agreed quantities and within agreed timeframes.
