Indigo Shire Council are seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experience consultant to provide repairs and remediation to two existing Cable Swing Bridges located at Lake Anderson Chiltern and Traton St Wahgunyah to ensure the bridges remain safe and functional to use for pedestrians and cyclists for many years to come.
The reason the project has come about is due to the aging timber used on the original construction of the bridges. Each bridge is approximately 18 years old and has several individual pieces of timber that are worn, cracked and in need of replacement. Some timbers show evidence of cracking due to moisture penetration and frost.
Existing steel components for each bridge are in good condition. Indigo Shire Council will consider replacement of timber components with more robust and longer lasting materials.
