Dandenong Market is located on the corners Clow St and Cleeland St, Dandenong. The existing loading dock and cool room area configuration requires updating to meet the facilities’ requirements. The works will be limited to this general area. Dandenong market is expected to stay in operation during the works and as such the contractor is required to make the necessary provisions for public and staff safety.
The project involves the reconfiguration of the back of house areas and will be undertaken in stage 01a stage 01b. This reconfiguration will involve the demolition of the existing cool room and storage areas, demolition of external roller doors, localised slab demolition, and the decommissioning and removal of part of the existing meat rail.
The new works will comprise a new fruit and vegetable cool room, new external blockwork walls, a limited scope of gutter and downpipe replacements, the relocation of the existing site office and a new meat rail diversion to the existing meat rail with associated structural steel work - refer to the structural engineer’s drawings for details. Structural works will also include trenching in the existing concrete floor as well as concrete infill for new footings.
A temporary cool room will be organised and set up and maintained by the head contractor during the duration of the works. The head contractor will be responsible for the temporary service connections as part of the works. The temporary cool room will be required to be removed and all service connections removed.
