Expressions of interest are invited from AFOEM Fellows who would like to observe the AFOEM Stage B Practical Examination and potentially become registered Examiners for future assessments.
Description
The AFOEM Stage B Practical Examination will be held on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November 2024 at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney.
Requirements of the role
- Fellows who have no previous involvement in the examining processes
- learn the fundamentals of examining by observing a cross-section of station types and examining pairs
- observe the conduct of the station and the examiner consensus discussion
Each observer will receive a roster of stations and times for their observation.
You can earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits by volunteering your time and expertise.

Register of Examiners
The process for becoming a registered Examiner on the AFOEM Register of Examiners is as follows:
- New applicants will participate as an Observer in the examination upon invitation.
- Following their participation as an Observer, applicants will be invited the following year to examine under the guidance of an experienced Examiner.
- After completing the above prerequisites, applicants will become registered Examiners for all AFOEM practical examinations. This will be confirmed by a letter of appointment in the year of completion.
Attendance at examiner calibration meetings is required to participate on the day of the practical examinations and to maintain the currency of your appointment.
Essential Attributes
- unconditional AHPRA or MCNZ registration as an occupational and environmental health physician
- 1 year of active practice post-AFOEM Fellowship
