Tender Description

The Department of Health and Aged Care requires the services of an organisation/s for the supply and distribution of Wound Consumable Products to patient’s residential addresses or medical service organisation Australia wide, including rural and remote localities, under the Chronic Wound Consumable Scheme.

The Chronic Wound Consumables Scheme (CWCS) was announced in the 2023-2024

Federal Budget to improve the management of wounds for patients in primary care settings by providing education and training for healthcare professionals and providing fully subsidised wound consumable products to eligible people with chronic wounds.

The CWCS will be open to people with both a chronic wound and diabetes who are aged 65 and over or aged 50 and over for First Nations people, and who do not have access to an alternative source of subsidised wound care products.

The Department of Health and Aged Care (the Department) requires the following services from a Respondent:

· Delivery of wound consumable products to a participant’s specified address Australia wide, including rural and remote localities.

· Management of end-to-end order requests and resolve complaints and incidents as required.

· Establishment of internal governance processes for streamlining ordering and delivery, identification of incidents, accurate billing and reimbursements managing end to end orders. The successful Tenderer(s) will have direct access to a Services Australia business team who will assist where necessary.

· Maintenance of documentation that monitors the receipt, storage and movement of products.

· Storage of products to be dedicated and separate from materials that may contaminate wound care products including required temperature and humidity controls where clinically necessary.

· Capacity to handle potential expansion of the Scheme through the introduction of new products.

· Provision of first level support through the establishment and maintenance of a ‘free call’ 1800 (National) Helpline for queries from healthcare professionals and participants in relation to their orders.

The wound care consumable products to be listed on the CWCS Product Schedule will be determined via a separate Request for Expression of Interest on our chosen tendering platform.
