Expressions of interest are open for a Geriatric Medicine Fellow to join the Committee as an Appointed Member.
One of the main roles of the Advanced Training Committee (ATC) in Geriatric Medicine is to monitor and assess the progress of individual trainees in Geriatric Medicine across Australia.
There is currently 1 Fellow position vacant on the Training Committee in the role of Appointed Member. Applicants from QLD or WA are preferred; however, Fellows from all states are welcome to apply.
This is a great opportunity for Fellows willing to support current Advanced Trainees in Geriatric Medicine and the training program. In this role, you will help shape the physicians of the future and contribute positively to the direction, workforce, and culture of Geriatric Medicine in Australia.
You will be involved in reviewing and monitoring the training program requirements, assessments, and curricula in consultation with relevant Specialty Societies and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will recommend changes to the College Education Committee through the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee.
Other responsibilities monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in Geriatric Medicine; accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in Geriatric Medicine; assess recognition of prior learning; advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested; provide advice on specialty specific CPD and other educational resources for members, as appropriate; modify individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures; assess and provide advice on specialist recognition in Geriatric Medicine for Fellows in the Adult Medicine Division who have not completed the Geriatric Medicine Advanced Training program. The Committee usually holds 1 face-to-face meeting (usually in November) and up to 4 video conferences a year.
