Tender Description

Expressions of interest are now open for Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) Fellows to join the Faculty Assessment Committee (FAC) as a New Fellow Representative.

Represent AFOEM new Fellows as a Member – New Fellow Representative and earn CPD points while making a difference to trainees’ experience.

The Committee supervises the coordination of the development, preparation and measurement of examinations within the faculty. The Committee also plays a key role in supporting trainee assessment, recommending policy and program changes to the Faculty Training Program Committee (TPC) and the College Education Committee (CEC).

To be a successful applicant, you must have:

  • Unconditional AHPRA or MCNZ registration as an Occupational & Environmental Medicine Physician
  • Must have received AFOEM Fellowship less than 5 years ago (as at the time of application)

Key responsibilities

1. Attend FAC meetings, providing updates pertaining to the new fellow portfolio and matters relating to new Fellows. Preparing agenda items and consulting with members (as needed).

2. Participate in other FAC-related activities. For example:

  • providing input for out-of-session FAC decisions (i.e. Circular Resolutions)
  • attending AFOEM Stage B Practical Examinations (as requested).

The Committee typically meets 3 times a year. However, due to a high volume of activity within the faculty at present, the Committee will meet 4 more times in 2026: 3 videoconference meetings and 1 in-person meeting.

The New Fellow is a person who received fellowship within the last 5 years and can only be a one-term member. If a membership vacancy exists at the end of that term, the individual may have the opportunity to remain as a member.

Visit the AFOEM Assessment Committee page before applying.
