Tender Description

Tweed Shire Council (the Principal) is seeking tenders from appropriately qualified and experienced organizations for the Removal and Replacement of Decking at Jack Evans Boat Harbour intertidal access boardwalk. The Project intent is to upgrade the swimming and water access infrastructure at Jack Evans Boat Harbour Parklands in line with a successful funding application under the Places to Swim Grant Program.

The purpose of this upgrade is to improve access to the water from the existing pathway to be all inclusive and reduce maintenance issues. The existing timber ramp is non-compliant with current accessibility standards, and the existing timber is slippery and rotting and requires regular maintenance. It is proposed to replace the existing ramp with composite material to reduce maintenance costs, so that swimmers of all abilities can access the ramp with appropriate hand-rails.

The addition of seating, shade and upgraded pathways is also proposed. The project would improve access to water at Jack Evans Boat Harbour, providing safe access for everyone to the beach and for swimming. The harbour would be more welcoming, safe and comfortable with new facilities to support its use and enhance community connections to water. A graded ramp, rails and steps would be installed to improve access into the water, and shade infrastructure and seating would further enhance the publics enjoyment of the area so that everyone can swim.

The general scope of works would include provision of the facilities and infrastructure including:

• Pathways

• Concrete wall (including footings)

• Bike racks

• Drinking fountain

• Seating

• Large shade structure

• Umbrellas

• Replacement of decking with composite material decking

• New composite tramped to beach/harbour with hand rail
