Tender Description

Summary

Expressions of interest are open for one College representative to be appointed to the SA Health Antimicrobial Resistance Action Plan Steering Committee.
Description

The Committee has been newly convened by SA Health in response to the National Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy – 2020 and beyond, which aims to address the increasing threat that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses to human and animal healthcare.

The primary objectives of the Commonwealth strategy include clear governance for AMR initiatives as well as greater engagement, with an integrated multi-sector response.

The SA State Public Health Plan acknowledges the threat of AMR as an increasingly urgent public health issue requiring coordinated management across all sectors, and includes the establishment of an AMR Action Plan.

The Action Plan, with a One Health approach, will delineate the actions South Australia will take under each of the priority areas identified in the National AMR Strategy.

Term and commitment

  • It's anticipated the Committee will meet 4 times a year until the Action Plan is complete, which is estimated to be mid-2023.
  • Meetings are planned to be held via video conference, with the intention to return to face-to-face pending the COVID-19 situation.
  • Should the Committee term be extended beyond mid-2023, applicants are to note that the College’s standard 3-year term for College body appointments will apply.
  • This is a self-funded appointment. The successful applicant will need to cover the cost of attending these meetings.
