The Maritime and Geospatial Systems section brings together the Australian Maritime Identification System (AMIS) and numerous Maritime Situational Awareness applications for the Maritime Border Command (MBC) and Geospatial applications on the Australian Border Force Maritime Fleet. The specified personnel will, lead a team providing excellent communication skills to deliver and support complex projects and assist with future programs, within The Department of Home Affairs and Australian Border Force (ABF).

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

- Managing:
* p­rojects that are complex in nature;
* ­multiple projects concurrently;
­ * projects of strategic importance to the Department;
­ * a multi discipline team with complex and different interfaces;
­ * project risks and issues and escalating as appropriate;
­ * resources for projects and/or programs.
- Providing strategic planning, mapping and modelling development;
- Managing project activities across highly complex ICT projects using established project management methodologies;
- Developing project documentation to a high standard as specified by the Department’s methodology within identified timeframes;
- Preparing and maintaining the project schedule;
- Preparing progress reports;
- Preparing and managing budgets;
- Facilitating and conducting requirements progress meetings, presentations and workshops;
- Developing positive team ethos within the immediate workgroup through positive participation and communication;
- Developing and maintaining strong effective working relationships with key management personnel and internal client base;
- Be part of a 24/7 support team. Providing out of hours support, including a requirement to be on call, on a rostered basis. This entails:
­ * Specified Personnel to be available, and in the ‘required state of readiness’ to perform extra duty outside of standard business hours;
­ * The ‘required state of readiness’ includes the requirement for Specified Personnel to:
- Physically attend on site within 30 minutes of notification of requirement to attend or as directed by Director, Maritime & Geospatial Systems (MGS);
- Maintain compliance with the Department’s Professional Standards and Integrity Framework, which includes but is not limited to, ensuring Services are not performed whilst impaired by any legal or illegal drugs or alcohol.
­ * Specified Personnel will be provided with a mobile telephone while on call.

Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to Departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Departments recordkeeping policy and practices.

The Specified Personnel will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:

- Project Initiation Document;
- Project Schedule;
- Project Implementation Plan;
- Project Management Plan;
- Benefits Management Plan;
- Stage Plan;
- Baseline Change Requests – as required and if applicable;
- Statement of Requirements;
- Transition Plan;
- Log of all agreed changes to business practices and processes in accordance with the relevant project schedules;
- Prepare weekly / monthly status progress reports for assigned deliverables;
- Prepare exception reports as necessary.
