Warrnambool Base Hospital- Enabling Works Construction Contractor Services Expression of Interest

⁠⁠⁠The WBHR – Enabling Works package, interchangeably referred to as the new Regional Logistics and Distribution Centre (RLDC), is a significant package of Works critical to the commencement of the construction works for the WBHR project which aims at redeveloping a major part of the existing Warrnambool Base Hospital (WBH) main campus through the delivery of a larger multi-storey clinical tower.

To prepare the hospital’s current site for the redevelopment, a significant Enabling Works package is required which will involve the construction of a new off-site RLDC and the commissioning of linen, laundry services, and logistics equipment to enable the decommissioning and demolition of linen and laundry services currently located within Buildings 1, 2, and 3 of the WBH main campus in time for commencement of construction works for the multi-storey clinical tower.

SWH currently operates a regional supply and logistics services from the WBH campus on Ryot Street, Warrnambool. The regional central supply and logistics model includes procurement, purchasing, logistics and linen operations; servicing 12 public health services and 60 other clinics and private providers in the South West region.

The Enabling Works will see the design development and integration and the construction of a new off – site 5,270 m2 RLDC, to be located at 5 Cooper St, Warrnambool VIC 3280, which is planned to serve the current sub regional health service supply chain and to cater for the anticipated increase in clinical services because of the WBHR project and to future proof capacity in response to the growing needs of surrounding regional centres. The new RLDC scope includes but may not be limited to:
• Eight loading bays and semi-trailer parking
• Dangerous goods store
• Trolley storage and trolley wash
• Sterile storeroom
• Laundry
• Clean and dirty linen store
• Warehouse •Engineering workshop and store
• Truck wash bay
• Forklift garage
• Reception, front of house, meeting rooms, staff room, staff amenities, end of trip facilities
• 32 car parks

The Enabling Works will also commission supply and linen services at the RLDC in alignment with SWH to ensure decommissioning of existing supply and linen services at the Warrnambool Base Hospital site is adequately coordinated.
