BHS Aged Care - Talbot Place Significant Refurbishment Project

⁠⁠⁠The main objectives of Talbot Place Significant Refurbishment Project are to help resolve four main factors:

Kitchens:

The kitchen areas will be significantly improved, further promoting greater socialisation and independence for residents; a key factor in the provision of quality residential aged care. The improved area includes new modern kitchen facilities to both kitchen 1 and 2, with kitchen 2 designed with a lower bench to encourage residents to become involved in the use of the new facilities which will enhance wellbeing and a sense of community. Kitchen 1 will receive an extension to provide the opportunity for a utilities room, thus providing much needed storage and larger working spaces.

Ensuites:

Ensuites for bedrooms 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 17, 18 and 20 will receive a full upgrade providing all new vinyl floors, walls and fixtures. New LED lighting will also be provided to these rooms. This will provide residents with a new light, bright and welcoming environment for them to utilise, whilst providing them with the privacy they require.

Hairdresser studio and Storeroom 3:

The demolition and relocation of the hairdressing studio will provide a new modern purpose-built salon for the residents to utilise. The new doorway and window leading off dining room 1 will provide easy access for the residents and generate a more open and inviting feel to the space. Storeroom 3 will be relocated to the existing hairdressing space. This will accommodate any storage requirements.

Medication and Laundromat:

The extension to the laundromat into the existing storage space will allow for a larger more user-friendly space for residents to utilise. The renovation will allow for improved circulation within the space for ease of manoeuvring by residents. The new doorway and large vision window will help attract use of the space. The laundry design will meet infection control and safety requirements to enable resident access and use of the amenity. This will promote additional household living options for residents to remain engaged, enabling independence should they choose.

The medication room will be relocated to the existing laundry space. New cabinetry and LED lighting will enhance the feel of the space whilst ensuring a secure environment. The re-homing of a larger lockable medical safe will be part of the renovation to the room.
