Tender Description
The scope of works relates to the upgrade of Shepparton Stabling yard in order to increase stabling capacity and house the longer VLocity trains located in Zones 10-12 as shown in Figure 1. Upgrades include new track construction, signalling and communication systems, CCTV and lighting, new operations buildings, car parking, access roads and walkways to the facilities.
Construction of the new stabling yard will occur over six stages to enable both normal time and occupation time works. As part of the new stabling yard construction, the applicable earthworks and formation works are as follows:
- Bulk topsoil strip
- Bulk cut to subgrade
- Spoil haulage and disposal
- Stockpiling material
- Placement and compaction of structural fill
- Placement and compaction of capping
- Proof Rolls
- Placement and compaction of bottom ballast
- Cess Drains
Further geotechnical borehole investigations are currently being undertaken to provide a more detailed and accurate geotechnical profile which will be provided in the RFT. Where required lime stabilisation of subgrade will be managed through a separate subcontract.
The work time applicable to the above elements has been broken down into the following based on rail corridor constraints:
