Our staff are committed to developing policies and delivering programs, in partnership with stakeholders, to provide lasting economic benefits based on principles of social justice and equity for all Australians.

As part of the new measures delivering deregulation for Australian business DIIS is leading the Employing the First Person program to provide a streamlined end-to-end system that simplifies the process for businesses employing their first person and provides them with confidence that they are meeting their obligations and reduce the burden of regulatory compliance. The main objectives of the program are:

  •  Consolidate an online checklist that guides employers (particularly sole traders and microbusinesses) through the steps to becoming an employer for the first time.
  •  Consolidate a range of disparate information and services currently available across a number of Commonwealth Government agencies and websites, and reduce the time taken by a first time employer to hire an employee.

The User Experience Designer will have solid expertise in Human Centred Design processes and Design Thinking methodologies in order to discover insights, co-design and collaborate on iterative design solutions. They will have a solid capability in addressing customer needs and business objectives and aligning these to achieve a strong value proposition and an exceptional user experience. They will be well versed in user research, developing journey maps, and mapping the customer experience, so as to discover key service improvement opportunities. The user experience designer must possess strong communication skills to engage multiple stakeholders, articulate the user journey, and facilitate consensus on objectives and priorities. They should have an acute ability to influence change and break down barriers to succeed in delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The User experience designer will work with team members to:

  •  Facilitate workshops with stakeholders and users and rely on good negotiation skills to ensure a realistic approach to service design every step of the way.
  •  Ensure that services are designed based on genuine user needs rather than only focus on internal business needs.
  •  Design services based on creating value for users that will lead to excellent outcomes for the business.
  •  Undertake ideation, and design work including wire framing and prototyping of services.
  •  Design and deliver services in a collaborative and inclusive approach with the awareness of cross functional needs and include all relevant stakeholders.
  •  Understanding, creating, and presenting user journeys.
  •  Create service blueprints, and user experience maps.
  •  Support the multidisciplinary team in building a mindset for Human-centred design thinking and ensure the team thinks about what the user is experiencing.
  •  Conduct and analyse user research and testing.
  •  Collaborate with the team to help define a minimum viable product (MVP) that can be deployed, iterated and improved to add additional value based on user feedback.

The UX Designer must be a team player with the ability to contribute to a positive team culture of learning, continuous improvement and collaboration. They must also be flexible with a willingness to cross skill and provide assistance to the team as required in an agile environment.
