ABOUT THE TENDER
Improving low birthweight outcomes in Melton South and Wyndham
North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) will commission the design and implementation of service intervention(s) that contribute to improved rates of healthy birth weight (>2,500g) babies born in Melton South and Wyndham.

The focus of the commissioned activity is to address physical, psychological and/or social factors that contribute to low birth weight in these priority locations. Importantly this activity is seen in the context of improving outcomes for children in the First Thousand Days, this being the period from conception to the end of the child's second year. It is well established that the environment and experiences a child is continually exposed to in the First Thousand Days have a significant impact on their health and wellbeing in later life, including learning and developmental outcomes in early childhood. It is envisaged that this focus on reducing rates of low birth weight will contribute to broader pieces of work across the region in the future.
