Tender Description
The Principal uses ferrous chloride (iron salts) chemical for the application of wastewater corrosion and odour control, and currently has twenty two (approx.) operating chemical dosing units (CDUs) across our network. The Principal has commenced a project to improve the operational and environmental risks associated with these units.
Across the Principal's network of CDUs, significant deficiencies were identified relating to compliance with current WHS legislation on hazardous chemicals and EPA requirements on spill containment. Furthermore, many assets were found to be reaching the end of their useful lifespan and showing signs of deterioration. In addition, there was an increase in the severity and frequency of failure events at CDUs within the network which result in the spill of ferrous chloride into the environment and the management of these events as significant environmental incidents.
