Design and Construction of Twin Bridges over Wimmera River on Landsborough Elmhurst Road

⁠⁠⁠ This project is to design and construct the replacement of two existing multi-span bridges, over the Wimmera River, in accordance with these tender documents.
The tender is a design and construct project which requires the proposed bridges to be completely redesigned and replaced with single span or multiple span bridges to the current standard (SM 1600) for a 100-year design life.
Concept design drawings for the replacement of the bridge structures have been produced and are provided as a separate attachment for information purposes only. In order to improve waterway capacity, it is anticipated that the design solution will incorporate fewer pier groups.
The new width of the bridges, approach roadways and the section of road between the bridges is to accommodate a clear width of two through lanes (7.2m). Consideration in the design will need to be given to services located adjacent to the structure and how they will be incorporated into the design.
New pavement will be required on both approaches and between the two bridges. This is to be designed to in accordance with Austroads and certified as a part of the project works.
The horizonal alignment of the approach roads and bridges is to match the existing alignment as best as possible and shall satisfy the requirements for an 80km/h speed environment (100km/h preferred). The vertical alignment of each bridge structure is to be modified to improve the waterway capacity under both structures.
A new and compliant road safety barrier pedestrian railing (depending on final design) shall be provided.
Beaching material or other means of scour protection shall be included in the design certification process.
The contractor is responsible for the preparation of all associated documents and permits as outlined.
