Tender Description
The current bridge structure will not accommodate the installation of an upgraded handrail therefore the existing bridge structure needs to be replaced with a pre-fabricated solution at the Hippopotamus Exhibit of Werribee Open Range Zoo.
Following Engineering review a design was prepared that retained our theming whilst ensuring compliance with Australian Standard 1926.1 and structural design requirements.
Timing of the bridge replacement is essential to meet with the current preventative maintenance Spring pond cleaning cycle in September 2019. Whilst the ponds are emptied and cleaned by another party, the Hippos are relocated to another pond and den allowing works to take place. This time is very limited and restricted, requiring a well-considered project schedule and prefabrication of large portions of the new structure off site. Timely prefabrication of the bridge & handrails as per the design documents is significant to ensure successful delivery within the time frame allocated.
