Federation Council owns, maintains and operates a variety of mobile plant items with around 180 registrations (conditional and full) ranging from light vehicles and trailers, small trucks, heavy trucks and trailers, mowers and heavy plant items. The exact number of each will vary from time to time.
The fleet is garaged at either the Corowa Depot, Corowa Office, Urana Office, Urana Depot, Mulwala Depot, a construction site, or at a private residence in the case of a lease agreement.
We have three mechanics, one fleet officer, one manned workshop in Corowa, and one unmanned workshop in Urana and a mobile service truck.
Our fleet department is undergoing a culture change from 'fix it when broken' to 'manage it in accordance with IPWEA Plant and Vehicle Management Manual', and to assist with this change we require a software system for record keeping, reporting and analysis. Currently our replacement program is adhoc, record keeping is poor and utilisation is below average on most items.
Federation Council plans to engage a software developer or distributor to supply and initially set up fleet management software. Federation Councils fleet management officer will maintain the system into the foreseeable future.
Initial set up will include:
* Producing a formal realistic implementation plan
* Loading existing data of the fleet into the new system
* Analysing data and identifying gaps, then preparing a plan to collect and enter this missing data
* At least two one day training sessions each for around 5 staff onsite in Corowa.
