Tender Description
The City of Greater Geelong invites tenders closing 2.00 pm, Friday 26 August 2016 from experienced contractors to design and supply a pedestrian and cycle bridge across the Geelong - Warrnambool railway in Little Malop St Geelong.
Bridge design and construction shall be undertaken having regard to the requirements detailed in the Brief, the site conditions and shall be in accordance with all relevant Codes and Standards and the recommended codes of practice.
The bridge shall comprise of a single span over the rail corridor which conforms to the clearance requirements and technical specifications for the relevant authority(s) and the design criteria outlined in the tender documentation.
Works will include but will not be limited to:
1. Design of a new Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge and ancillary works including public lighting and incorporation of service requirements.
2. Engineering certification of bridge design and as-built construction.
3. Obtaining final approvals for the design and construction as required to enable construction works to proceed.
4. Identification, proving and documentation of existing services that are required to be relocated or modified to facilitate bridge construction, including correspondence with relevant service authorities.
5. Offsite construction of bridge structure, as designed, to enable installation within the available rail closure windows.
6. Delivery of bridge structure to site, including traffic management, Occupational Health & Safety and Construction Environmental Management as outlined within the Principal's Conditions of Contract.
The Rail Authority have advised that shutdowns of the Geelong to Warrnambool rail line are scheduled for 19-20 November 2016. The City of Greater Geelong are aiming to have the new bridge structure installed during this November rail shutdown period.
