Expression of Interest Supply of Zero Maintenance Non - Vehicle Recreational Bridges

⁠⁠⁠Greater Geelong City Council is seeking interested parties to provide an innovative solution to provide a zero maintenance recreational bridge.

The City owns and manages approximately 160 bridge assets, many of these are timber and steel pedestrian bridges which are in various conditions and present an ongoing maintenance liability for the City.

Greater Geelong City Council is engaged in a Procurement for Innovation project (also known as Forward Commitment Procurement). Procurement for Innovation seeks to solve an unmet need by stimulating market demand and supply through public procurement.

Essentially, a public sector procurer establishes a forward commitment to procure a product or service to respond to an unmet need, which is not yet available on the market.

In the Greater Geelong region Procurement for Innovation is being facilitated by Cleantech Innovations Geelong. This facilitation involves working with suppliers to provide hands on and financial support to respond to the unmet need identified. The aim is to develop markets for cleantech goods and services by stimulating demand and assisting suppliers to respond to this increased demand. Cleantech Innovations Geelong will be looking for collaborative approaches to respond to the unmet need identified, to ensure business development and job creation opportunities are realised in Greater Geelong.

The City seeks expressions of interest from suitable applicants to indicate if, by accessing support from Cleantech Innovations Geelong or by their own means, they could create a zero maintenance recreational bridge to respond to this unmet need identified by the City of Greater Geelong. Construction will need to commence on the first bridges by the end of 2017 or sooner.
