Bayswater Bowls Club - Green No. 2 Renewal

⁠⁠⁠The project comprises the removal and replacement of the existing synthetic bowling green surface, the reconstruction of the playing base, the installation of new plinths, ditch and bank treatments, the replacement of synthetic surrounds, and the provision of maintenance and operational equipment. 

Scope of Works 

1. Site Establishment 

• Establish the site and implement all required site management, safety,  environmental and traffic management measures. 

• Protect existing assets and infrastructure adjacent to the works area. 

2. Existing Surface and Base Removal 

• Remove and dispose of the existing synthetic bowling green surface. 

• Excavate and remove approximately 80mm of existing base material from the playing surface area. 

• Dispose of all excavated materials and waste at an approved facility. 

3. Base Reconstruction 

• Construct a new fine, free-draining bonded aggregate base. 

• Laser-level the new base to achieve the required finished levels and grades. 

• Lightly compact the aggregate base to an average depth of 80mm over the existing shaped sub-base. 

• Apply a fine hand-screeded levelling layer to accurately match reconstructed plinth levels. 

• Achieve a finished surface tolerance of 3mm under a 3-metre straight edge. 

4. Plinth Installation 

• Supply and install new timber/plastic composite plinths around the perimeter of the bowling green. 

• Install plinths to a minimum height of 230mm. 

• Accommodate variations in outer bank levels where required. 

5. Synthetic Playing Surface Installation 

• Supply and install Dales underpad over the completed base. 

• Trim and neatly join all underpad edges. 

• Supply and install “TigerWeave Ge 4” woven synthetic bowling green surface. 

• Accurately join all playing surface seams by sewing. 

• Smooth and tension the surface to ensure a consistent and uniform finish. 

• Secure the playing surface within the ditch and plinth structure in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practice. 

• Supply a new Karchar KM70 - 30 battery operated sweeper. 

6. Ditch and Bank Treatments 

• Supply and install 34mm Terra Cotta coloured synthetic grass to the base of all ditch gutters. 

• Supply and install Terra Cotta coloured synthetic grass to the top 300mm of the outer bank and down the face of the outer ditch wall. 

7. Synthetic Surrounds 

• Remove existing worn synthetic surrounds grass. 

• Excavate and construct new base works as required. 

• Supply and install approximately 160m² of 25mm “Natural 25” synthetic grass to the surrounds of the bowling green. 

8. Ancillary Equipment 

• Supply and install a Bowling Green Speed Indicator Sign in a location agreed with the Club to ensure visibility to players. 

9. Completion and Handover 

• Clean the site and remove all surplus materials, waste and construction equipment. 

• Provide a full maintenance and servicing manual for the synthetic bowling green. 

• Provide training and operational guidance to the Club's greens staff regarding ongoing maintenance requirements.
