Tarcombe Road Culvert Replacement

Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking suitably experienced suppliers to fulfil Contract 25-26-38 - Tarcombe Road Culvert Replacement.

During the 2022 Flood Event (AGRN 1037), the large, corrugated steel culvert on Tarcombe Road sustained significant damage, including extensive scouring around the structure. This damage compromised the culvert’s structural integrity and reduced the road’s safety and serviceability. Tarcombe Road provides essential rural access for farming operations, livestock transport, school bus services, and residents, meaning the damage continues to impact daily travel and reduces the resilience of the local road network during future storm events.

To restore safe road function and improve longterm flood resilience, the project proposes the demolition and removal of the existing culvert and replacement with a new 3.0 m × 3.6 m reinforced concrete box culvert designed to accommodate future highintensity storm events. The works will also include tree removal, earthworks—such as excavation, carting, spreading, and compaction—and full reinstatement of the road pavement to required engineering standards

The existing culvert is deteriorating creating a safety risk for road users. The project aims to replace or repair the damaged structure to restore safe travel conditions and ensure the longterm reliability of the road.
