Australia Day 2026 – Show Lighting Services

Destination NSW requires professional show lighting systems for both the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay.

Project goals

Australia Day is an established component of Destination NSW’s program of events.

The event requires professional show lighting systems for both the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay as a key element of the technical overlay to provide the event program to the expected live and broadcast audience.

Scope

There is a detailed scope of services attached with this RFQ. Respondents are required to address these as part of the response.

There are three lighting system elements within the scope of this RFQ –

1. SOH Concert Stage

• Sydney Opera House Concert Stage, hosting positions, audience and performer lighting around the SOH precinct

2. Circular Quay & Sydney Cove

• Effect lighting around Circular Quay and Sydney Cove (including CQ focussed fixtures on the SOH Western promenade)

3. Vessel and Barge Lighting

• 8 x yachts

• 1 x tall ship

• OPTION for Barge Lighting

The overall requirement for ADL is a single cohesive design, look, and feel. Due to the extent of the effective stage and related operational requirements the show is divided into SOH and CQ lighting requirements. DNSW has engaged a lighting designer for each of the two elements – SOH and CQ. The CQ lighting designer will operate and oversee all vessel and barge lighting elements. Offers should include lighting equipment supply, installation, and all other lx crewing.
