CliDE WIS2Box Station Chaining

Provision for CliDE WIS2Box Station Chaining services

The Bureau of Meteorology, through the Climate and Oceans Support Program in the Pacific (COSPPac3), seeks a supplier to deliver enhancements to the Climate Data for the Environment (CliDE) system. The enhancements will address three streams of deliverables:

• Integration of CliDE with the WMO Information System 2.0 (Wis2Box).

• Implementation of CliDE station chaining functionality.

• Resolution of system issues identified through testing and deployment of Deliverables 1 and 2.

Objectives and Outcomes

The Bureau is seeking a supplier who must have experience working with Pacific stakeholders and must have significant demonstrated experience as a CliDE software developer to deliver technical enhancements that enable:

• Seamless data export and publication from CliDE to Wis2Box.

• Robust station chaining functionality to reduce duplication and improve efficiency in station management.

• Timely resolution of any issues that emerge during testing and deployment, ensuring the system is stable and sustainable.

Outcome:

• Fit-for-purpose Wis2Box integration in CliDE Cloud, enabling both manual and automated CSV2BUFR exports.

• Clear interfaces and backend logic supporting station chaining.

• Operational fixes and refinements delivered promptly where required.

• Documentation, user manuals, and training materials updated to reflect all implemented changes.

The supplier will design, develop, and implement the following features:

1. Station Maintenance Changes – Database and frontend changes to host Wis2Box-specific metadata.

2. Wis2Box Status Management – Add station-level toggle for Wis2Box participation (WIGOS mandatory when enabled).

3. CSV2BUFR Exports

a. Manual export of selected station data in Wis2Box CSV2BUFR format.

b. Automated export settings including frequency, elements, and enable/disable functions.

4. Automated System Design

a. External data pull from CliDE (per country, high-confidence data only).

b. Conversion and aggregation into BUFR formats.

c. Storage and preparation of outputs (S3 bucket).

d. Automated publishing to Wis2Box, with logging.

5. Deployment & Training – Pilot deployment (e.g. Niue), documentation, and technical knowledge transfer to COSPPac team.
