Tender Description

Expressions of interest are open for Adult Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health Division Fellows in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand to become an accreditor.

Description

When submitting the expression of interest form, you'll be asked to select which Advanced Training specialty program you wish to become an Accreditor for, which should align with your experience and educational background.

The expansion of our Accreditor pool will play a crucial role in providing oversight and support for accreditation processes, ensuring that training standards are maintained and improved. This initiative positions us to better meet the needs of trainees and ultimately contribute to higher quality healthcare outcomes in our communities across both regions.

With the successful transition of the remaining Advanced Training Specialties from the Training Services Unit to the Training Accreditation Services Unit, finalised in July 2024, we have replicated the initial Accreditor Recruitment Campaign and are looking to establish an Advanced Training Accreditor Pool.

Travel costs and expenses incurred by accreditors will be covered by the College as outlined in the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).

Accreditors report to the College Accreditation Subcommittee of the Advanced Training will be eligible to claim CPD points for their accreditation activities.

Responsibilities

  • review all relevant accreditation documentation submitted by the setting.
  • attend preliminary meetings with College staff in preparation for visits
  • interview executives, Directors of Advanced Training, Heads of Department, Education Supervisors and trainees at the setting
  • assess compliance by a setting against the RACP Standards for the Accreditation of Training Settings and the Advanced Training Accreditation Criteria for the specialty being assessed.
  • complete and make contributions towards the completion of the Site Accreditation Report.
  • provide recommendation to the Accreditation Subcommittee of an accreditation decision and findings for consideration
  • liaise with RACP College staff regarding Advanced Training Accreditation matters.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the role, you must:

  • be a Fellow of the RACP
  • have at least 2 years of specialist experience
  • have participated in a medical education program
  • not have any conditions or restrictions on registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) * or the Medical Health Council of New Zealand, MCNZ

* Any AHPRA conditions or restrictions are to be declared to Training Accreditation Services for further review and consideration by the Accreditation Subcommittee.

Prior experience in accreditation is desirable but not essential. Training and support will be provided.

To become a formal Accreditor, Fellows must complete the Accreditor Onboarding E-Module available on the RACP website and participate in 2 accreditation site visits as an Observer to gain experience in accreditation review interviews and the overall process.

Apply

To apply, submit an expression of interest form (DOC) and your CV to accreditation@racp.edu.au (Australia) or accreditation@racp.org.nz (Aotearoa New Zealand).
