Tender Details
Tender Description
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) currently owns and maintains 13 ferries within South Australia. Each ferry is removed from the water on a seven-year cycle for inspection, coating refurbishment and any relevant model upgrades to meet standards and standardise the fleet as much as is practicable. Ferries are returned to the Morgan Dockyard slipway for the refurbishment process.
Pressure cleaning, blasting and protective treatment services are required for the major refit / refurbishment of Ferry 870-010 “Pelican” in accordance with the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012 and public safety requirements.
This work forms part of the ongoing River Murray Ferry Refurbishment program, where regular remedial work of ferry hulls is required. The required work involves preparing the hull surface for a new protective coating system i.e., removal of deteriorated paintwork and re-painting of the interior and exterior of the hull.
The objectives of this procurement activity are as follows:
- extending the life of the coating system for an additional seven years of service;
- repairing any defects or damage resulting from natural degradation of the coating system; and
- providing the key stakeholders (South Australian Road users, the Department, and the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport) with a compliant refurbished ferry for continuous use.
