Request for proposal Medicare Urgent Care Clinics: Marrickville and Burwood
Tender ID: 592454
Tender Details
Tender Description
CESPHN are requesting proposals for the provision of two Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (Medicare UCCs) located in Marrickville and Burwood.
Medicare UCCs aim to ease pressure on hospitals and give Australian families more options to see a healthcare professional when they have an urgent, but not life-threatening need for care and are unable to access their GP or other care providers. Medicare UCCs provide free services, are open during extended business hours and accept walk-in patients.
The Federal Government has committed up to $644.3 million to establish a further 50 Medicare UCCs over 3 years (2025-26 to 2027-28), throughout Australia, bringing the total number of Medicare UCCs to 137. The Government's aim is to have the new Medicare UCCs operational by December 2025.
Medicare UCCs must be co-located with, or partnered alongside, General Practices that offer full bulk billing, where local circumstances allow. CESPHN will give preference to fully bulk billing General Practices. CESPHN will consider the bulk billing rates in their local area when commissioning Medicare UCCs, to help ensure that affordable General Practice care remains accessible to the community.
Request for Proposals will be considered from general practices, community health centres or Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) in Burwood and Marrickville. Bordering suburbs will also be considered.
Before submitting an RFP, please ensure you are familiar with the RFP process and specific requirements. The Operational Guidance for Urgent Care Clinics (Attachment A) and Medicare UCC Design Principles (Attachment B) will assist you to assess your capacity to operate a Medicare UCC.
