Austin Health is one of Victoria’s largest health care providers. Comprising the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre. Austin Health is a major teaching and research centre with numerous university and research institute affiliations.

Austin Health employs in excess of 9,500 staff across its three sites; including over 1,000 Doctors and 4,000 nurses, and delivers a full range of leading edge clinical services, including several state-wide services (liver transplant, spinal cord injury service, respiratory support service, child inpatient mental health service). In total, Austin Health provides over 900 beds, including mental health, aged care and rehabilitation beds.

Background Information

Deep brain stimulation (DBS), is used primarily to treat movement disorders and electrodes are implanted in specific areas of the brain and treated with electrial ipulses. Steriotactic Electroencephalogram (sEEG) is used diagnostically for drug-resistant epilepsy. The current frames used at Austin Health become obsolete at the end of 2025. While seeking a replacement, we would like to source a product that would support both the treatment and diagnostic elements.

Austin Health is seeking a supplier who can provide:

A neuro headframe for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and Steriotactic Electroencephalogram (sEEG). Austin Health intends to replace the existing, soon to be obsolete frames currently used for DBS and replace these with frames with sEEG capability.

The aim of the questionnaire is to:

• Identify the number of suppliers in the Australian market

• Identify suppliers who can meet Austin Health requirements

Following the evaluation of the PQQ submissions, suitable suppliers may be shortlisted and invited to respond to a Request for Quote (RFQ).
