Swan Hill Rural City Council (Council) is replacing the decommissioned bridge that once connected Pioneer Settlement and Pental Island.

The pedestrian bridge between Pental Island and Pioneer Settlement was closed following devastating floods in 2011 and is no longer deemed safe for public access.

Council has recently completed the Pental Island Cultural Masterplan 2023, which highlights the significant economic and social benefits of activating the Island for Aboriginal cultural experiences. A key component of this vision is the proposed new pedestrian bridge, which will provide essential public access to Pental Island from the Pioneer Settlement.

Council is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced and qualified contractors for the demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a new Pental Island Pedestrian Bridge at the Pioneer Settlement, Swan Hill.

A mandatory site visit has been scheduled for 01:00PM AEST, Thursday, 19 June 2025. All interested parties must register their attendance by submitting an expression of interest to attend the site visit no later than 04:00PM AEST on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.
