Overview
The Veteran Community Grant is an initiative under Operation Thrive to ensure the significant contribution of the Defence and veteran community to the fabric of the Northern Territory is recognised, celebrated and supported by the Northern Territory Government.
The aim of the Veteran Community Grant is to fund projects, events, programs and initiatives that recognise, celebrate and support the Northern Territory veteran community.- Assist in improving the physical or emotional wellbeing of the veterans’ community
- Foster opportunities for community building and social connection of the veterans’ community
- Accessible to a broad number of members in the veterans’ community
- Promote services and supports available in the Northern Territory
- Assist to recognise and/or celebrate the veterans community
Further Information
The Northern Territory has a strong relationship with the Defence community and is home to a veteran community of over 20,000 which includes current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families.
The 2023 Northern Territory Defence Veterans Strategy commits to supporting ex-ADF personnel and their families across three focus areas:
- Transition, Employment, and Education
- Health and Wellbeing
- Respect and Recognition
Operation Thrive is the Northern Territory Governments action plan to make the Territory an attractive and supportive environment for current and ex-serving members of the ADF and their families to live and work.
