Mansfield Shire Council is seeking to engage the services of an experienced and qualified consultant to provide conceptual and detailed designs for Station precinct carparks and service lane.

Mansfield Shire Council is undertaking the construction of three new carparks as part of the Mansfield Station Precinct Activation Program. These parking facilities are designed to enhance the visitor experience, reduce congestion, and improve access to key areas within the precinct. The three carparks, located at Kitchen Street, the Visitor Information Centre, and Withers Lane, will cater to a variety of user groups, providing essential parking solutions for both general visitors and those with specific needs.

The Withers Lane carpark will have a gravel surface and include specialised facilities for visitors travelling with horse caravans, such as secure tie-up points. This carpark will also provide access to the future fenced dog park and the existing Rail Trail.

The Kitchen Street carpark will be situated behind the museum and adjacent to the local hardware store, Yenckens. It is proposed to be a sealed carpark with approximately 70 spaces, including accessible parking for people with disabilities and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. This design aims to improve access, improve congestion in the area, and provide enhanced accessibility and environmentally sustainable design features. A basic concept plan has been developed to mark the requirements, adjustments are required to align guidelines and standards.

The Visitor Information Centre carpark will also be a sealed carpark, providing convenient access to the Mansfield Station Building, Mansfield Heritage Museum, and the start of the Rail Trail. It will offer a range of parking options, including spaces for standard vehicles and EV charging stations. Additionally, a bus bay for tour buses will be incorporated. As a provisional extension to this carpark, a service lane will be introduced to Maroondah Highway, west of Visitor Information Centre. This lane will feature dedicated parking spaces designed for longer vehicles, such as caravans, boats, campervans etc. ensuring accessible parking solutions for all users during peak tourism season.
