The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) is responsible for maintaining the road network in the forest estate. DEECA utilises a road classification system to describe standards and maintenance regimes.
The Department has identified the requirement for drainage repair work on Reed Bed Creek Road due to damage received from the 2019-20 bushfire event and subsequent heavy rainfall events. This road is a heavy strategic road in the Snowy district, located in the Cann River work centre footprint. It is a key road that provides access to remote areas for firefighting, recreation facilities and to private property. Repairing Reed Bed Creek Road is essential to ensure the safety of all road users.
A high-pressure gas pipeline is present along Reed Bed Creek Road, adding to the importance for repair.
One section of Reed Bed Creek Road has been severely washed out and poses a safety hazard to vehicles with very deep scouring in the table drain and soft edges causing constant erosion onto the carriageway.
The Department is seeking responses to this Request for Tender (RFT) T2024-0400 to repair the heavily damaged section of Reed Bed Creek Road as per the engineer designs.
