The Aboriginal Water Entitlements Program (program) is a $100 million commitment to help Murray-Darling Basin First Nations communities to invest in water for cultural, social, economic, spiritual and environmental benefits.
The program requires the services of water brokers for the purchase of water entitlement in nominated Basin catchments. The use of water brokers is intended to enable the program to purchase in a similar manner to other water market participants (including other environmental water holders), and to be able to participate in the market in a more flexible and market responsive way.
The procurement of water entitlements will be consistent with the selected investment option and to align to First Nations outcomes and values.
