Tender Description

Fencing of four (4) antenna feed points to ensure particular clearance distances depending on height of fence (see diagram below for 1.8m high fence) and depending on obstructions in the area. See Figure 1.

  • Preference for fencing around feed points (including posts) is non-conductive material (e.g. treated pine or composite timber). It should be designed in such a way to prevent climbing.
  • All fencing materials must be suitable for resisting vermin attack (e.g. termites, etc.) and corrosion (e.g. mould, etc) found in the local area.
  • One (1) lockable gate or a panel which can only be removed with tools is required to allow access to each feed point by maintenance staff. Two (2) gates/panels to allow vehicles access to the shipping container past the first feed point if deemed       necessary.
  • Conductive fasteners (e.g. bolts, screws, nails, etc) may be used. Wire fastenings should be avoided.
  •  Attachment of warning signs (provided) to fences.
  •  The fences should not be able to be climbed.
  • The antenna will be switched off to allow contractors safe access to the area.
  • Contractors will receive an induction upon first visit to the site and need to sign in at the Observatory office at each visit.
  •  SWMS and Permit to Work must be completed by contractor prior to commencement of the work.
  • Supply of plans or drawings for submission to DBCA to review before the work is conducted.

Trees cannot not be cleared and no disturbance to existing structures is permitted. Small vegetation and grasses may be cleared. Fencing dimensions can be increased to avoid interference with trees provided that the minimum dimensions depicted in Figure 2 are met.
