The NSW Government in partnership with the Commonwealth Government are committed to narrowing the digital divide for all customers in NSW. As part of this project which is funded by the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF), NSW Telco Authority (NSWTA) are looking to establish an evidence base for lived experiences of communities, businesses and citizens on when there is loss of digital connectivity in times of disaster.
NSW Telco Authority has developed the NSW Connectivity Strategy to align and optimize state-wide programs and opportunities to ensure modern, high speed digital networks are available to all. Information gathered as part of this project will be used to guide future initiatives under the NSW Digital Connectivity Strategy and to enrich the NSW Connectivity Index which is a tool developed by the NSWTA that measures on a granular level connectivity in terms of access, affordability and user capability.
