Tender Description
This procurement seeks to engage with a supplier to provide tape transcription services to copy and concatenate geophysical survey data stored on legacy format physical media to modern tape cartridge formats or hard drives, and concatenate data where applicable. The items do not always represent a complete survey.
The required legacy format media are:
- 8mm cartridges (quantity, approximately 30)
- 7 track tapes (quantity, approximately 350)
- 9 track tapes (quantity, approximately 35)
- 21 track tapes (quantity, approximately 15)
- 3480 cartridges (quantity, approximately 450)
Data includes SEGD and SEGY which must be transcribed, remastered, concatenated and duplicated to either 3592 tape cartridges or hard drive so data items are readable and usable with data and data format integrity retained, and with one survey per output tape or drive.

The Customer will exclude from participation any Potential Supplier that does not demonstrate compliance with:
Demonstrated experience and capability to transcribe seismic data from 3480, DLT, 8mm, 21 track, 9 track and 7 track physical media onto 3592 tape cartridges or external hard drives as appropriate, within the initial contract term. Please confirm you have the corresponding drives available and operational at the time of this Approach to Market.
Demonstrated experience to appropriately concatenate the data, maintaining the data integrity.
Demonstrated experience transcribing seismic survey data formats, including SEGD and SEGY. A full list of data formats is provided in section A.A.2.
Demonstrated experience to provide detailed tape transcription reports.
Returning all data to Geoscience Australia or another party as specified by the customer, and not retaining any copy of the data under any circumstances.
