Tender Description
MidCoast Council invites suitably qualified and experienced Contractors to submit a proposal for the design, construction, and operation of a landfill gas (LFG) capture trial (Part 1) at the operating Taree Landfill and the closed Tuncurry Landfill.
Depending on the outcome of the trial, a permanent LFG capture system (Part 2) may/may not be installed at the Taree and Tuncurry Landfills.
Part 1
Part 1 of the project is the design, construction, commission, and operation of a trial LFG capture system at both Taree and Tuncurry Landfills. The purpose of which is to determine whether there is sufficient landfill gas present at the sites to run a commercially viable emission reduction project under the Clean Energy Regulator’s ACCU Scheme (formerly known as the Emission Reduction Fund). Part 2
The Commencement of Part 2 is solely at the discretion of Council and is contingent on the outcome of Part 1. If Council decides to proceed with Part 2 of the project the Contractor will undertake a turnkey project to design, construct, commission, and operate a permanent LFG capture system at either/both Taree and Tuncurry Landfills. The permanent LFG system will be operated by the Contractor for a period of seven (7) years with an option to extend for a further 5 years (at the discretion of the Council), after which the ownership of the LFG capture system will be transferred to the Council.
