Video and Image Data Asset Management System (DAM)

⁠⁠⁠In a successful NPP the department committed to:

Deliver a digital library and online media newsroom of broadcast and print quality materials highlighting Commonwealth investment in infrastructure. The materials would be accessible by media organisations for use in delivering valuable ‘under-the-line’ publicity of Australian Government projects and to be utilised by the Department and Ministerial Offices in their social media activities.

In 2019, the Department procured a suitable supplier to build, host and manage the backend of a video and image hosting system, leading to launching the Departmental Image Library – a public repository of image and video content.

That contract has ended, but as there is an appetite to continue the repository, procurement is required to find the next suitable supplier to build, host and manage the backend of a system or systems to host video and images.

  External video / image platform

• Secure system which can only be accessed by infrastructure staff
• Video be streamed and / or downloaded – can choose to make video content only streamable
• Download must be of a quality sufficient for the video to then be edited and shared on social media
• Ability to access metrics about how many people are watching / downloading video
• Ability to create a customised professional looking and easy to use front end for use by the media, Ministers, and public
• Once established, platform can largely be managed in house, reducing ongoing costs
• Photos displayed on the same system
• Option to download images at either web or print sizes
• Images should be able to be captioned so attributions can be made if needed (i.e., not writing on the image, but a description below it)

Must align with departmental IT and security requirements including having unlimited or very large storage and Australian servers.
