Tender Description
Fellows from the Adult Medicine Division and Fellows from the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine or the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine in Australia are invited to apply.
Applications from the following specialties are encouraged:
- Infectious Diseases
- Rheumatology
- Medical Oncology
- Nephrology
- Rheumatology
- Haematology
- Nuclear Medicine
The Subcommittee plays a key role in the assessment of OTPs by determining which physicians can work in Australia. Members of the Subcommittee can have a real impact on health service delivery and quality of care in the Australian health system.
Key responsibilities
- Interview OTPs to understand their overseas qualifications, training and experience.
- Determine and modify requirements for OTPs to reach the level of an Australian-trained physician in accordance with guidelines and policies set by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and RACP.
- Provide expertise to the MBA, College staff and other College Committees about OTP assessment.
- Monitor the OTPs’ progress through to Fellowship.
- Advise on key initiatives, projects and educational developments (when required).
The Subcommittee meets up to 12 times per year, with 1 face-to-face meeting in Sydney. All other meetings are held via video conference.
Applicants must be registered to practice in the Adult Medicine Division and/or in the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine or the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine.
The Fellow will be appointed initially for a 3-year term.
