From 31 July 2023, the Electoral Commission will deliver a nationwide community engagement campaign to raise awareness of election participation (motivation, enrolment and voting), and support participation in the 2023 General Election (GE2023).
The Electoral Commission will contract a Pacific Peoples focused organisation with national reach to deliver community engagement activities for GE2023 delivered by the Commission's community engagement teams. The contracted organisation will promote the campaign messages to all eligible Pacific voters, including youth and disability communities.
The overarching purpose of the community engagement campaign is:
- working with Tangata Whenua and priority communities to strengthen civic participation and increase voter turnout for GE2023 - reflecting a healthy democracy and confidence in the electoral system.
This procurement supports the Commission's strategic priority "Strengthening our relationships and building public understanding of our democracy'.
