Tender Description

Expressions of interest are sought for a keynote speaker at the Internal Medicine of the Pacific (IMOP), 9th Scientific Symposium, Suva, Fiji.

Description

The College invites members to submit an expression of interest to be a keynote speaker on the topic of Antimicrobial Resistance in Low and Middle Income Country settings, at the Internal Medicine of the Pacific (IMOP), 9th Scientific Symposium to be held at in Suva, Fiji on Friday 18 August 2023.

IMOP is the organising association for Pacific Physicians from all Pacific Islands, Countries, and Territories (PICTs). The mission of the association is to advance and promote the cascade of best practice, medical education, training, clinical services, and research in the field of Internal Medicine in order to enhance healthy Pacific Island Communities.

The theme for the 2023 IMOP Symposium is Anti-Microbial Resistance. AMR is impacting PICTs, which are low and middle-income countries (LMIC) as defined by the United Nations. AMR is also a global challenge and Pacific Health Leaders are keen to receive an update on the issue and become aware of approaches LMIC health systems could undertake to manage AMR.

Approximately 30 Pacific health leaders will attend. All have an interest in internal medicine (adult medicine). The successful candidate for this keynote can elect to deliver the keynote as a virtual presentation or in person (please see note below).

This opening keynote will follow the official welcome ceremony to all delegates. This is an important event for the Pacific as this is the first in-person gathering for Pacific Health Leaders since 2019.

As a keynote speaker, you will be invited to remain for the day at the symposium and may also be invited to attend the Symposium Dinner that evening.

This is not considered to be a College project. Therefore, you will be encouraged to engage with the conference organisers to understand their requirements and liaise on agenda timing etc. If you choose to deliver the keynote in person the College will support the successful keynote candidate with a small travel disbursement (maximum of AUD$3000.00) to cover travel, accommodation, on-ground transport, meals, and travel insurance which you will arrange for yourself. The College will disburse this travel bursary when receipts are received.
