Capitalising on pulse protein food and feed opportunities domestically and internationally
Tender ID: 525887
Tender Details
Tender Description
Globally, pulse crops are mostly used for food and are traded as such However, new opportunities arising in the Australian and global plant protein market have the potential to drive improved pulse demand both domestically and internationally through their unique protein quality, nutritional benefits, and functional properties when compared to other grains, further maximising the value of these crops. This offers potential opportunity for significant growth forecasts for high-quality Australian pulse crops. Currently constituting a smaller share of total protein demand, the increased use of proteins from pulses presents an opportunity for both grain producers and supply chains to further differentiate, add and capture value for Australian pulse crops. The GRDC is looking to invest in diverse R and D programs that will provide the foundational knowledge and understanding of Australian pulse varieties to support growth in the diversifying pulse ingredient market.
