Nature of works
A Construction Manger is being sought to manage the fit-out of the RMH Futures project.
The RMH Futures project is located across:
- 611 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
- 10 Wreckyn St, North Melbourne VIC 3051 (Jane Bell House – Subject to Funding)
RMH is currently undergoing a major infrastructure upgrade project in parallel with Master Planning. In excess of 9,000m2 is required for decanting non-clinical administration departments from the RMH Parkville campus as part of the Stage 0 masterplan work and to enable current and projected clinical service expansion to occur on the hospital site.
611 Elizabeth Street
In February 2022, RMH secured a 10-year lease for 6 floors of 611 Elizabeth St, the first completed building of a 3-building development by PDG located approximately 600 meters from the hospital. The RMH has leased levels 3-8 of this building and plans to occupy at least 4 of these levels by January 2023.
The lease of 611 Elizabeth St provides RMH with an opportunity to review the appropriate location of all off-site departments including those located at Jane Bell House (JBH) and relocate departments based on their need for close proximity to the hospital.
Several clinical and clinical support services are planned to operate from 611 Elizabeth St. Preliminary planning estimates the need for 1 floor to be fitted out as a patient facing clinical area, and 4 floors as contemporary office accommodation. Level 8 is currently excluded from the project’s scope.
Clinical Services planned to be located at 611 Elizabeth St include:
1. Outpatient Renal Dialysis Unit (Approximately 900m2)

2. Multiple Sclerosis Centre of Excellence (Approximately 300m2)

c. Dry research work area
d. Group therapy space
3. Neuropsychiatry Outpatient Department (Approximately 400m2)

Non-Clinical Services planned to be located at Elizabeth St include:
- Staff Lounge for RMH employees (approximately 150m2)
- Procurement (15 office spaces)
- Finance and Revenue Services (42 office spaces)
- Payroll Services (64 office spaces)
- People and Culture (60 office spaces)
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Team (approximately 132 office spaces)
- Health Intelligence Unit (25 office spaces

Jane Bell House
JBH is a 4-level building (approximately 1400m2 per floor) located approximately 200 meters from the hospital. Two levels of JBH have been completely refurbished into contemporary office space. Of the remaining floors, Level 3 is planned to be redesigned and refurbished as part of this project subject to funding.
