AAMI Park Stadium Stair Nosing and TGSI Replacement Works

⁠⁠⁠Background

The AAMI Park Stadium (Melbourne Rectangular Stadium) was built in 2010 and is one of the leading rectangular stadiums globally. As a host venue for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023, the Stadium is currently subject to a significant capital upgrade program, with a focus on improving the Spectator and Player experience for all events. One of these projects is to replace existing stair nosing and Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSIs).

The intended timeframe is for works to be completed by the end of January 2023.

Scope

Stair Nosing

The Scope of Works for stair nosing includes all stair nosing throughout the AAMI Park Stadium facility, inclusive of external entry stairs, back of house spaces, public areas, the seating bowl, and corporate facilities. There is 4,294 lineal metres of stair nosing in the seating bowl, 1,408 lineal metres throughout the Stadium concourses, and 1,171 lineal metres in external areas that is to be replaced. Approximately 2,400 lineal metres of the stair nosing within the seating bowl also requires seat and aisle identification to be installed at either end of the nosing.

Tactile Ground Surface Indicators

The Scope of Works for TGSIs covers external areas primarily on the lower forecourt on the Northern end of the Stadium. Other areas throughout the Stadium are largely compliant, with minimal quantities of individual tactiles missing or damaged. In such instances, only the individual tactiles are to be replaced with a matching product rather than the entire section or area. There is approximately 52 square metres of TGSIs to be replaced, plus ad hoc spot-fixes.

General

The Contractor will be responsible for:

• Confirming quantities, dimensions, locations & methodology for installation prior to commencement of work
• Removal of non-compliant infrastructure and sustainable disposal wherever possible
• Procurement, supply, and installation of compliant stair nosing and TGSIs
• Make good works as required
