As part of Hobsons Bay City Council’s – Better Places initiative an opportunity to assist Council in delivering the design for an integrated street upgrade is now available. Hobsons Bay City Council (HBCC) is seeking to appoint a lead consultant with relevant experience and expertise for a road precinct upgrade requiring design consultancy services in the Hudsons Road Precinct project. The Lead Consultant will be responsible for the engagement, management and co-ordination of all necessary sub-consultants in the production of documentation and provision of services required to achieve detailed design documentation suitable for construction tendering.

The project is located at Hudsons Road, Spotswood VIC 3015 between Booker Road and Melbourne Road. Melway Maps 41 J12 and 42 B12. Hudsons Road is a vehicular road corridor managed by HBCC allowing pedestrian, cycle and vehicle traffic between Booker Road and Melbourne Road. This boundary extent will apply for the purpose of this project even though Hudsons Road extends beyond Melbourne Road.

The design of the integrated street upgrade is to include measures to address the following:

• Reduce heavy vehicle movements;
• Improve pedestrian, cyclist and public transport connections;
• Improve streetscapes including pedestrian and cyclist safety around activity areas;
• Potential for greening and increased amenity; and
• Retention of ‘village feel’ of shopping precinct along Hudsons Road
