Artists invited to be part of Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery 2023 program

⁠⁠⁠Do you have an art installation, project or exhibition you’d like to bring to life? Applications to be part of the Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery 2023 program are now open.

Applications are encouraged from artists, curators and community-based arts groups from all backgrounds and locations. Priority is given to projects that demonstrate a clear and relevant local context or generate connection to the local community. This includes projects that address themes and social issues of relevance to Maroondah.

Located within the community and cultural centre at Maroondah Federation Estate in Ringwood, Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery (MFEG) aims to engage audiences through a vibrant and diverse program of exhibitions by emerging and established artists.

The exhibition space is offered free of charge and includes two versatile gallery spaces, professional curation, presentation, promotion and the opportunity for artwork to be sold on behalf of the artist, with no commission on artwork sales. There are also opportunities for additional programming such as workshops, artist talks and performances.

Councillor and Maroondah Arts Advisory Committee representative, Suzy Stojanovic, said the initiative aimed to support and foster local artists and to showcase the talents of Maroondah’s artistic community.

“MFEG is an inclusive space that supports a thriving arts community of emerging, mid-career and established artists and curators of any age, background or culture,” Cr Stojanovic said.

“For emerging artists and creatives with little to no experience in exhibiting, this presents a wonderful opportunity for them to gain valuable public exposure, share their artwork and make a name for themselves locally,” she said.

Exhibitions run for approximately seven weeks, with proposals welcome from a broad range of contemporary and traditional visual arts practices across: painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, drawing, photography, video, design, jewellery, and installation with scope for performance and multimedia artworks.
