Tender Description
Jemena Gas Network distributes natural gas to 1.4 million residential business and industrial sites in Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast and Wollongong, as well to customers in more than 20 regional centres, including the Central West, Central Tablelands, South Western, Southern Tablelands, Riverina and Southern Highlands regions. Jemena also manages the Evoenergy and Nowra network that as 150,000 customers in Canberra and Nowra.
Jemena’s objective is to provide its customers reliable and accurate billing to our customers. Currently there are two separate remote readings solutions that provide high-rise residential and I&C customers remote meter reads. Both systems use 3G communications and with the decommissioning of the telecommunications technology 3G in June 2024, Jemena faces the challenge to ensure continue operational of its remote reading solution. A new solution is needed to ensure Jemena meets its regulatory obligation to provide on-time billing to our customers.
A new solution is underway for high-rise residential customers however the I&C customers are not included in this solution and this requirement forms the basis of this Market Scan.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this market scan is to evaluate the varying products available for either or both communication devices and associated platforms that will ensure Jemena’s capability to continue to obtain remote meter readings to its high energy customers.
MARKET SCAN SCOPE
The supplier shall provide either or both products consisting of :
Device that enables communication of meter reading to the software (head end). There are two devices needed:
Volume corrector that accounts for pressure and temperature when calculating volumes and;
Data logger, a logging device that captures revolutions of the meter.
Software (head end) suitable to receive meter reads and transfer them into SAP
